February Preview For 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series

February will be a big month when it comes to V8 racing as we see the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series start with a bang over two weeks in the Middle East.

Kicking off proceedings will be the Yas V8 400 which is taking place from the 18th to the 20th of February. The event is new for the 2010 V8 Supercar Series, and will no doubt draw huge attention as it takes place at what could now be the world’s premier motor racing track – the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Racing in the opening event will take place at night time – another first for the V8 Supercar Championship Series, which is sure to produce some stunning images.

In the debut of the Yas V8 400 all will want to make an impact and get a good start to the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series, and with none of the racers having driven on the track, excitement is extremely high.

Team Vodafone’s Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup have made a huge move from the 2009 series, changing from Ford to Holden, which can only be a good thing for Holden as Whincup is out to clinch his third consecutive championship title this year.

Also taking place this month, and also in the Middle East, is the next feature in the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series; the Desert 400. The event will be held in Bahrain from the 25th to the 27th of February.

Set as the second round on the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series’ calendar it certainly has a big job ahead to surpass the fellow Middle Eastern event – although that is not to say it will not succeed in doing so.

It has been revealed along with the fantastic V8 racing on the Bahrain International Circuit, there will be a plethora of entertainment to suit all ages, from stalls, to circus acts and not forgetting life-size kangaroo mascots, to make those who travel to the event feel a little closer to home.

Greg Murphy, racing for Holden’s Supercheap Auto Racing And Castrol Edge Racing, will debut in the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series in the Desert 400 having to miss out on the opening round due to a prior engagement.

The Desert 400 was not held last year, so the previous winner dates back to 2008, where the then-Ford racer, Jamie Whincup took out the event.

So as the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series kicks off this February with two major new additions in the Yas V8 400, and pop-star singer Pink revealed as new ambassador for the series, it seems set that 2010 will certainly see some fantastic V8 racing.
