March’s Overview For Formula One

This month the highly anticipated Formula One World Championship will kick-off and all eyes will be in the Middle East to see who will start their 2010 campaign in style.

In the lead up to the 2010 Formula One season, Fernando Alonso is leading the odds, and March will certainly be a good time to check his form and for him to stake his claim on the title.

The first feature on the 2010 F1 calendar is the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix which starts on the 12th of March and runs until the 14th. Taking place over 49 laps, the race is just under 310 kilometres long, and saw Jenson Button win last year who went on to become the driver’s champion.

Another reason the opening Grand Prix will produce so much hype is the return of the legend Michael Schumacher. Back with Mercedes GP, the multi F1 record-holder is set to race in the 2010 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, which will cement his return to the sport.

A few weeks later, starting on the 26th and finishing on the 28th of March, will be the 2010 Australian Grand Prix.

With 58 laps spanning 307 kilometres, the race will take place in Melbourne’s Albert Park, and was won in 2009 by Britain’s Button.

So as March promises to be an exciting month in Formula One racing, with two major Grand Prix’s occurring a couple of weeks apart, spectators will also be drawn to the circuits for the variety of entertainment promised.

The Bahrain Grand Prix will play host to aeroplane stunts, and parades, while the Australian Grand Prix will also have air displays, V8 racing, demonstrations and more parades.
