This year, the World Rally Championship (WRC) is in its 38th Season, and after beginning on the 11th of February at the Rally Sweden, will culminate on the 14th of November in the Wales Rally GB.
Spanning 13 rallies, taking place all over the world, the 2010 WRC has seen two take place, but Sportsbet still has early odds for the outright winner.
The opening rally held on snow and ice covered gravel roads – the 2010 Rally Sweden – saw Mikko Hirvonen with Ford Focus RS WRC 09 take the top spot, with Sébastien Loeb coming in second.
The second rally of the season, the 2010 Corona Rally México, took place over the 5th to the 7th of March and saw Loeb cross the line first, followed by Petter Solberg and Sébastien Ogier behind in third.
So as we head into the third rally; the 2010 Jordan Rally, the current WRC winner odds are topped by Sébastien Loeb at $1.44.
The legendary Loeb has won the WRC since 2004, and has set out for his seventh title after a great start to 2010.
The legendary Loeb has won the WRC since 2004, and has set out for his seventh title after a great start to 2010.
Hirvonen is the closest in the odds at $3. The Finn has been runner up to Loeb for the past two Championships and will be looking to break this train in 2010 – and after the opening rally win, could manage to do so.
For the 2010 WRC driver’s title it is clear Loeb and Hirvonen are the two safest bet, with a massive jump in the odds to third position, with Jari-Matta Latvala at $17.
However, keen punters must remember it is only early in the Championship, and surprises do happen – so why not place a spare dollar on one of the underdogs.
Kimi Räikkönen, the 2007 Formula One World Drivers’ Champion, is now in his second WRC title campaign – his first as a full-time driver.
Räikkönen, despite his success as an F1 driver, is rounding out the odds for the title at $301 – however if he found his form would certainly payout a decent sum to the risky wagerer.
The next feature on the WRC schedule is the Jordan Rally which will be held from the 1st to the 3rd of April.
